Far from going silent at semester’s end, the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music will ring with three weeks of back-to-back concerts, recitals, masterclasses, and more during the 2024 Texas Music Festival, kicking off this coming Tuesday, June 4. Nearly every day for three weeks, families can escape the heat while enjoying contemporary music and beloved favorites, and best of all: many of the concerts are FREE!

Ø Purpose: One of the nation’s premier summer training programs for young orchestral musicians

· Tues 6/4: Festival-opening recital by acclaimed Formosa Quartet and UH faculty
· Thur 6/6: The return of beloved Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko in recital
· Fri 6/7: 150 people onstage for the Southwest premiere of Bruckner’s Psalm 146 + pieces by Stravinsky and Strauss, conducted by Franz Anton Krager
· Sat 6/8: TMF Orchestra’s Jones Hall debut, during Houston Symphony’s Strauss celebration
· Sun 6/9:2nd annual Mitchell-Hogg Competition (FREE to the public), where judges and audience members alike can pick their favorite musicians, who compete for cash prizes and the chance to perform with the Houston Symphony
