Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston to Host Annual 2024 Tapestry Gala on October 26, 2024

Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston (IM) will celebrate dialogue, collaboration and service at its annual Tapestry Gala on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Americas – Houston.

The theme of this year’s event is “A Better Tomorrow Starts Today” in celebration of IM’s half century of service and its commitment to serving our community for generations to come. Casey Curry will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies.

During the reception, guests will enjoy music from Northern India performed on sitar and tabla, featuring Dr. Shane Monds and Prashant Kumar. There will also be a display of artwork from the organization’s Refugee Services Youth Arts Showcase and a model of the Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston. Jazz-inspired and soulful entertainment during dinner will be provided by Kenneth Gayle, Cecilia Duarte, The Philip Hall Singers, and The Philip Hall Trio. The décor will be provided by The Perfect Touch.

This year’s gala will recognize Tapestry Honoree Randall Evans, a well-known community leader and friend of IM. Evans is a community leader, mentor, advisor, volunteer, supporter, and friend to many in the community. His interests range from social services to the arts and medical research, and he has dedicated his time, talent, and treasure in these areas to make Greater Houston a better place to live. Evans has served on IM’s Board for many years and was Board Chair in 2023.

The Spirit of Respect award will be presented to Sushma and Devinder Majahan for their work in co-founding the Eternal Gandhi Museum. The museum is dedicated to preserving and promoting Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy by cultivating the universal values of Truth, Nonviolence, Peace, Love, and Service. Sushma is a Board member of Interfaith Ministries and the couple remains active in the organization’s work, in addition to many other community commitments.

Event Co-chairs Paula Sutton & Bill Gross and Nadia Tajalli & Dr. Shahin Tavackoli will join Interfaith Ministries Board Chair  Kathy C. Flanagan, M.D. and President and CEO Martin B. Cominsky to welcome guests and supporters to an inspiring evening celebrating the work of Interfaith Ministries.
