Don’t Miss The Ann & Stephen Kaufman Jewish Book & Arts Festival Coming in Early November

WHAT TO EXPECT:
“The 52nd Annual Jewish Book & Arts Festival is a celebration of the Jewish experience and our collective and positive impact. To achieve that, our exciting schedule includes diverse voices, historical stories and contemporary programming. Authors include Sara Holly Ackerman, Lee Yaron, Ryan Lavarnway, Samantha Greene Woodruff, Larry Tye, Noa Tishby, Robert Steinfeld, Micah Sivah, Alex Schumacher, Daniel Schulman, Julie Satow, Abigail Pogrebin/Rabbi Dov Linzer, Marina Gerner, Lori Dubbin, R. Derek Black, Jason Bell, Maya Arad, and Mitch Albom.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
- Opening Night on Sunday, November 3- Noa Tishby: Uncomfortable Conversations with A Jew. A proud Jew and Israel, in this book she and the former professional football player and sports analyst Emmanuel Acho delve into what it means to be Jewish today. This event is expected to sell out.
- Author event Monday November 4 and Culinary Class on Sunday, November 3- Micah Sivah’s Nosh: Plant Forward Recipes Celebrating Modern Jewish Cuisine offers two programs, including a cooking class in the JCC’s Culinary Studio.
- Wednesday, November 6 – Robert Steinfeld’s 3…2…1…We’re on the Air: An Inside Look at Sports Television, Journalism, and Gender Equality goes behind the scenes at some of the biggest sporting events, all while exploring themes of gender equality.
- Saturday, November 9 – Mitch Albom’s the little liar is a Holocaust story from the eyes of an 11-year-old. This is also expected to be a sell out event.
- Thursday, November 14 – R. Derek Black’s The Klansman’s Son: My Journey from White Nationalism to Antiracism: A Memoir will provide attendees with their firsthand story as the son of the Stormfront community founder and godson of David Duke and their ultimate exit from a hate-filled life.
- Closing Night on Saturday, November 16 – Larry Tye’s The Jazz Men: How Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, and Count Basie Transformed America offers insight into the three men through 250 interviews.
WHAT TO KNOW & TICKET INFORMATION:
Tickets can be purchased online at erjcchouston.org. Tickets can also be purchased at the box office before each event, but we recommend purchasing tickets in advance to ensure space is available.
Some programs have a virtual recording option that will be available to purchase and will be sent to ticket buyers a day following the event.
Each author’s books are available for purchase at the Jack Lapin Bookstore, which is at the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC. The bookstore also has a wide selection of other books, including children’s books, cookbooks, and gift items. Most authors (except Noa Tishby) will be signing their books following the event.
