14th Annual Empty Bowls Houston Brings Artists Together to Aid Houston Food Bank

 Empty Bowls, an international effort, strives to fight hunger with multiple events

In its first 13 years, Empty Bowls Houston has raised $801,550 for the Houston Food Bank equaling more than 2.4 million meals to the hungry   

THE MAD POTTER GIVE BACK DAY – Wednesday, April 25

The Mad Potter is once again supporting Empty Bowls Houston with a “Give Back Day” on Wednesday, April 25 at their 3 Houston locations.  On this day, Mad Potter will give 10% of their sales from their three locations from anyone who paints and says they are painting for Empty Bowls Houston.  Get a group together and have a party to help raise money to fill empty bowls!

ARCHWAY GALLERY’S EMPTY BOWLS INVITATIONAL EXHIBITION & SILENT AUCTION – May 5 to 30, 2018

Silent Auction Opening Reception:  May 5, 5 – 8 p.m. at Archway Gallery – open to public

Archway Gallery is once again hosting a special exhibition and auction to raise money for Empty Bowls Houston. More than 30 finely crafted, one-of-a-kind pieces of art from Archway Gallery artists will be on display, including bowls made of ceramic, wood, glass, and fiber in addition to works submitted by both 2D and 3D artists.

The Empty Bowls artwork may be purchased through the month-long Silent Auction with proceeds benefitting the Houston Food Bank.  There is a special reception on May 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Archway Gallery to meet the artists, view these very special works, and begin bidding. All bowls will be on display for purchase by silent auction throughout the month.  Archway Gallery is located at 2305 Dunlavy (77006).  For more information, visit www.archwaygallery.com.

Enjoy light bites, beer and wine, and the first opportunity to purchase an Empty Bowl!  The event benefits Empty Bowls Houston and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.  Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at www.EmptyBowlsHouston.org.

EMPTY BOWLS LUNCHEON–Saturday, May 19, 2018 ~ 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Soup served 11 a.m. until it runs out! Event will be held at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft at 4848 Main.

The unique lunch fundraiser is a collaboration between Houston area ceramists, woodturners and artists working in all media and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. In its first 13 years, Empty Bowls Houston has raised $801,550 for the Houston Food Bank!  (This equals more than 2.4 million meals to the hungry!)         

For a minimum $25 donation, attendees receive a simple lunch of soup and bread provided by Sweet Tomatoes, and then select a bowl from 1,500-plus one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted bowls donated by Houston area ceramists and craft artists.  The empty bowls    serve as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community and the world.  There are also larger bowls available at a higher price (lunch also included.)  Live music and artist demonstrations throughout the day.
