MISERY closes out Alley Theatre’s 2025-26 Season with Performances through Sunday, June 21
Directed by Alley Associate Artistic Director Brandon Weinbrenner, William Goldman’s adaptation of Stephen King’s chilling thriller comes to life on stage when a fan will stop at nothing for the sequel of her dreams.

Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre and Artistic Director Rob Melrose shared, “Stephen King has captivated audiences for decades in novels and movies. I’m excited for Alley audiences to experience his work in the live theatre, which as we know, is always more spine tingling. Having a live audience and live actors makes the experience so much more immediate. I’m especially excited for longtime Resident Acting Company members Elizabeth Bunch and Christopher Hutchison to bring this twisted relationship to life. Their many years of working together brings a depth to the performance that Alley audiences will appreciate.”
“Misery might be the show that you didn’t know you wanted,” shared Weinbrenner. “Stephen King’s psychological horror classic comes to theatrical life as a tour-de-force cat and mouse game for our Resident Acting Company real-life married couple Elizabeth Bunch and Chris Hutchison. The play spins the audience (and the set) towards its thrilling conclusion as we watch Paul Sheldon (Hutchison) fight, crawl, and type his way out of the obsessive clutches of Annie Wilkes (Bunch), his ‘number one fan.’ This production promises to leave you breathless.”
The cast includes Alley’s Resident Acting Company members Elizabeth Bunch as Annie Wilkes, Chris Hutchison as Paul Sheldon and Christopher Salazar as Buster.
