Stages and Brave Little Company Bring Winter Magic to Life with WINTER OF THE SNOW QUEEN

Stages is set to deliver young audiences to experience a world of wonder, courage, and connection with Winter of the Snow Queen, co-produced by Stages and Brave Little Company and directed by Troy Scheid with original music by Alli Villines. Running from December 13 to 24, 2025, on the Rochelle and Max Levit Stage at The Gordy, this imaginative new production celebrates storytelling, community, and the magic of shared traditions.

Designed for all ages, Winter of the Snow Queen combines performance, live music, puppetry and interactive storytelling to delight young audiences and the young at heart.

Created with input from refugee communities across Houston, the production reimagines Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairytale by weaving in colorful tales and traditions from around the world. The result is a lively, multilingual adventure that follows a brave young girl’s quest to rescue her best friend from the Snow Queen’s icy spell.

“This adaptation is a celebration of Houston itself,” said Derek Charles Livingston, artistic director at Stages. “It brings together cultural traditions through imagination and storytelling. Brave Little Company and Stages’ adaptation of this classic feels both timeless and dynamic, making it a wonderful way to celebrate the season with young children.”

In addition to the performances, families can enjoy free activities in the lobby on Saturdays and Sundays between shows. Guests are invited to create holiday cards, make festive crafts, apply temporary holiday-themed tattoos, and warm up with complimentary hot cocoa at the bar.

Tickets to Winter of the Snow Queen are now on sale and can be purchased online or by phone (713.537.0123). Stages is located at 800 Rosine St., Houston, Texas 77019.
