Teacher Appreciation Week in Houston Gets a Gold Star for All the Goodies from May 6-10

Greater Houston McDonald’s Owner/Operators treat local teachers to free breakfast. Breakfast includes a free breakfast sandwich and a medium coffee.

Local McDonald’s owner/operators are thanking school teachers, administrators, and staff across the Greater Houston Area with free coffee and breakfast sandwiches during Teacher Appreciation Week. Teachers and staff with a valid school ID can enjoy a free breakfast sandwich of their choice, or a medium Premium Roast or Bold Iced Coffee from May 8 to 12 at participating restaurants in the Greater Houston area. The offer can be redeemed until 10:30 a.m. as drive-thru, take-out, and dine-in and is valid once per person per day.

“I’m a mom of two kids in elementary school and I can’t thank their teachers enough for all that they do for our children,“ said Laurie Glaser-Swift, a local McDonald’s owner/operator. “As local business people, we want to show our appreciation for educators in our community by treating school teachers, administrators and staff to free breakfast during Teacher Appreciation Week. We hope this token of appreciation brightens their day!”

During National Teacher Appreciation Week, any school employee who shows their ID badge at dine-in or drive-thru can enjoy a free Taquito, Breakfast on a Bun, or Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.

  • Whataburger will also award 63 teachers across its 15-state footprint a $1,000 grant for their school to continue supporting the educators and their students long after National Teacher Appreciation Week is over.
    • The grants are part of Whataburger’s Feeding Student Success program, which focuses on charitable giving at the intersection of food insecurity and education. The program focuses our charitable giving at the intersection of food insecurity and education through college resource rooms, scholarships, and community philanthropy. Since launching the program in 2020, we’ve given more than $5 million to support communities and students in need.
    • Feeding Student Success has three components:
    • College Resource Rooms: When college students are hungry and concerned about basic needs, they can’t achieve their fullest potential. Our five co-branded college resource rooms provide food and other essential items for students, and do so in an accessible way, with a warm welcome from a brand they trust.
    • Scholarship Funds: Whataburger’s Feeding Student Success Scholarship Fund provides opportunities for high school, college, university and technical school students across our footprint to take the next steps in their education journey. Whataburger employees, who we call Family Members, also have scholarship opportunities through the Feeding Student Success Scholarship Fund
    • Community Support: When we build a Whataburger restaurant, we gain a new community, and we know they all have unique needs. We want to make sure all our communities are a place Where Goodness Lives, and we will continue to support local programs that generate education equity and provide safe, enriching community spaces. We know we can make the most impact when we partner with local organizations within our footprint that share our commitment to helping students succeed.  Photos courtesy of Whataburger.
