Mardi Gras! Galveston 2024 Concerts Include Eli Young Band and Gin Blossoms

Mardi Gras! Galveston, the Gulf Coast’s premier Mardi Gras celebration, is set to ignite the island with an unparalleled live music experience featuring talented artists to headline the festivities. Taking place over two dazzling weekends, from February 2 to February 13, 2024, the event promises to blend vibrant parades, exhilarating entertainment, and the soul-stirring beats of renowned musicians.

Kicking off the celebration on Saturday, February 3rd, at 5:30 pm, the iconic Gin Blossoms will take center stage as the first weekend headliner. Known for their chart-topping hits and infectious melodies, the Gin Blossoms are considered one of the most influential bands of the alternative rock era. Their music has been featured in numerous films and television shows, and their songs continue to resonate with fans worldwide. Their hit singles “Hey Jealousy” and “Found Out About You” propelled the band to mainstream success.

For Fiesta Gras on Sunday, February 4th, two bands bring the Latin flair alive. David Lee Garza y Los Musicales at noon. Then, at 2:30 pm, headlining an afternoon of Latin festivities, a Mexican norteño band from RomaTexasDuelo takes the stage. Known for its rhythmic blending of traditional elements and romantic style, Duelo’s music resonates with a wide audience that enjoys northern Mexican music groups.

As the festivities continue into the second weekend, Friday, February 9th, at 10:45 pm, the Grammy-nominated Eli Young Band will take the spotlight, treating festival-goers to a night of country-infused magic. Known for their chart-topping hits and dynamic performances, the Eli Young Band promises an evening of musical excellence and entertainment.

Throughout both weekends, Mardi Gras! Galveston’s 2024 live music line-up will showcase local favorites with a fusion of rock, Latin, and country. The Salute to Texas Stage features DJs every night, including DJ Nonstop, Thomas Gray, DJ T3, Tony Styles, Hensen, DJ Kyxx, and DJ Zitro.

If you’re looking for places to celebrate Mardi Gras, consider the newly opened Hotel Lucine in Galveston, celebrating Mardi Gras from Feb. 2-13. Galveston’s psychedelic surf rock-and-roll group Galvezton will celebrate the release of their nine-song Velvet Underground Tribute album with a live, free performance from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hotel Lucine courtyard. Centrally located in the heart of the property, the spacious courtyard features a covered pergola and al fresco dining, offering an open-air space to relax before beginning late-night festivities around Galveston. All are welcome at this free event. 

Hotel Lucine Executive Chef Leila Ortiz will be offering a special Lagniappe Menu at The Den for those looking to fuel up before heading downtown, featuring Fat Tuesday delicacies such as hot crawfish dip, seafood gumbo, and pimento cheese hushpuppies. Guests can choose from a range of hand-crafted cocktails including classics such as the Lucine Hurricane, Sazerac, and French 75 while being serenaded by Houston jazz pianist Jahrel Pickens.
