Milano Nail Spa Debuts at Uptown Houston Centre on Post Oak with 23 Year Old, First Generation American at the Reins

MILANO NAIL SPA FORMALLY DEBUTED JULY 9, 2023

Houston-based Milano Nail Spa is again expanding in its Bayou City backyard. The best-in-class business has helped to reimagine the nail industry with its spotlessly-clean, super-luxe – and in some cases, supersized – locations, including a more than 10,000-square-foot Lower Heights District storefront, believed to be the state’s largest nail salon.

Under the guidance of founder, CEO and American success story Thai “Tom” Tran, the dual-branded company, which also includes Nails of America, has become known for creating life-changing career opportunities, touching a team that now exceeds 1,000, mostly first and second-generation Americans that staff nearly 70 Milano Nail Spa and Nails of America locations.

The newest beneficiary of company partnership is Minh Huynh, a 23-year-old immigrant who moved to Houston from Vietnam a decade ago. A tireless, self-starter who originally dreamed of being a chef, he is now Milano Nail Spa’s youngest operator and is supported in his role by co-manager Phan Phuong. At the recommendation of his uncle, Huynh joined Milano Nail Spa as a trainee in May 2022, and after working through every aspect of the business – from janitorial and reception to cashier and ultimately assistant manager at the Sugar Land location – he was put on a list for an operating partner position.

Fast forward 14 months to July 9 – and now in the role of part owner – he formally debuted the high-profile, 5,200-square-foot Centre on Post Oak site at 5000 Westheimer Road, directly across from The Galleria and steps from chocolatier Cacao & Cardamom.

The layout marks a first for Milano Nail Spa and will serve as a model for future locations. A grand, central space with hand-crafted details, including a lotus flower ceiling installation and Italian-inspired aesthetic, was designed in-the-round and is flanked by a reception area, waxing room and two, semi-private spaces that will be used for overflow and mani-pedi parties for groups of up to 10 each. The circular, main area incorporates 35 pedicure and 20 manicure stations, accommodating 35 nail techs initially – a number expected to climb to 70 as traffic grows.

According to Huynh, “I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity and honored to be in this wonderful Uptown location that will not only draw from the area’s large residential base of apartments, condos and homes, but also visitors from around the city and world who come to shop and dine in The Galleria and nearby retail centers. No matter where you’re from, our goal is to treat you like family and offer a luxurious escape from the bustle of your day.”

Huynh feels that the upscale nature of Milano Nail Spa Galleria is an ideal fit for the sophisticated and discerning audiences that international Uptown attracts.

At Milano Nail Spa Galleria, patrons can anticipate a vibrant and festive ambience with customized i-Lux massage chairs, handbag and attache storage, TV monitors, specialty seasonal décor, plus complimentary beverages ranging from sparkling water and sodas to margaritas and mimosas.

A variety of manicure and pedicure options, utilizing upwards of 1,000 polish selections – including the new OPI Barbie line – will span from express services and seasonal offerings to more spa-like experiences such as a 10-step pedicure utilizing a volcanic, CBD-infused scrub. Intricate nail art and full-body waxing are also on the menu, and eye lash services will be introduced soon after opening.

Regular hours are 9 am until 7 pm Monday through Saturday and 10 am until 5:30 pm on Sundays, including opening day. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are suggested to avoid a wait time.
