Historic Georgetown has Options for All Types of Adventures

A romantic weekend or overnight trip to historic Georgetown, just a three hour drive from Houston, is the perfect solution. The “Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas” has plenty of romantic, fun and low-key options for couples.

For the outdoorsy couple: Georgetown has plenty of outdoor activities – visit San Gabriel Park or Lake Georgetown for a picnic, explore Blue Hole or rent a bike along the 9 mile hike & bike trail.

For shoppers: Take a stroll around the “Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas” and stop by the various shops including Lark & Owl Booksellers, Ken’z Guitars, The Escape Fine Crafts & Gifts, The Daytripper World Headquarters and Georgetown Antique Mall.  

For wine and dessert lovers: Nothing says romance like wine and chocolate and Georgetown has some of the best. Visit The Yard Milkshake Bar or Galaxy Bakery for all your sweet tooth needs and then stop by one of the three wine tasting rooms on the square: Grape Creek Winery, Baron’s Creek Winery and Georgetown Winery.

For artsy couples: Visit Georgetown Art Center, catch a show at the historic Palace Theater or check out public art around town including murals, sculptures, paintings, and even utility box wraps.

For beer lovers: Visit the Rentsch Brewery, a short drive from downtown Georgetown. The brewery is the first in Georgetown and has local food trucks on weekends. 

Dining ideas: The Golden Rule– A speak-easy style restaurant that offers a menu with a variety of cuisine, including Texas fried shrimp, pecan fried chicken, and sweet glazed Brussels sprouts. El Monumento– A few blocks off of the square with a gorgeous deck looking on to Blue Hole, sources the freshest ingredients available to serve home-style, made-from-scratch Mexican fare.
