The Peking Acrobats Leap Into Houston with Society of the Performing Arts Performances

The troupe brings over 2,000 years of the Chinese acrobatic tradition to Houston on Saturday, February 22nd for two shows

Chinese acrobatic troupe, The Peking Acrobats, returns to Houston, presented by Society for the Performing Arts (SPA). Accompanied by live musicians playing traditional Chinese instruments, the performers bring the awe-inspiring acrobatic act to Jones Hall for the Performing Arts for two shows on Saturday, February 22, 2020.

As the most recent performance in SPA’s Family Series, The Peking Acrobats deliver a show that can be appreciated by fans of all ages. This group of elite gymnasts, cyclists, jugglers, acrobats, and tumblers continues to leave family audiences mesmerized with their daring demonstrations of strength, agility, balance, and artistry.

Because of the unusual and difficult nature of the feats involved, high honor is given to those skilled enough to become acrobats; an acrobat can be considered the Chinese equivalent of an American opera star. Of the thousands that train in the art of Chinese acrobatics, only the best find themselves members of an elite world-touring troupe such as The Peking Acrobats.

These gifted acrobats “are pushing the envelope of human possibility…pure artistry” says Clive Davis of the New York Post. Now, over 2,000 years of tradition, perfection, spectacle, and awesome entertainment come to Houston – are you ready to be amazed?

Tickets for The Peking Acrobats start at $29 and are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased online at www.spahouston.org, by calling 713-227-4772 or in person at the courtyard level ticket office at Jones Hall located at 615 Louisiana St. Hours of operation: 9 am – 5 pm Monday–Friday.
