Latin Restaurant Weeks Returns to Houston with Bold Flavors Starting July 11, 2025
Two-week celebration spotlights the chefs, entrepreneurs, and family recipes that define Houston’s soul

In a city where nearly half the population traces its roots to Latin America, some of the most powerful culinary stories have remained unsung– until now. Latin Restaurant Weeks returns to Houston from July 11 to 25, turning the spotlight toward the chefs, family traditions, and fearless entrepreneurs that define the soul of the city’s food scene.
Home to one of the largest Latin communities in the country, Houston’s 2.3 million residents include 44% of the population who identify as Hispanic or Latino, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Now in its seventh year, the initiative has expanded from a bold experiment in 2019 to a national movement, with activations in cities like New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C. Yet, Houston remains the heart of it all– a place where Latin identity isn’t a trend, but a tradition.
This year’s roster showcases an impressive range of restaurants, from beloved staples to bold newcomers. Guests can experience the Dominican flair of Mamajuana Café, the refined Latin-Mediterranean fusion of The Lymbar, and the inventive, Southern-Latin storytelling of Late August. Family-run gems like La Fonda Santa Rosa and legacy institutions like El Meson reflect Houston’s rich culinary heritage and its future.

With more than 25 local eateries participating this year– spanning restaurants, coffee shops, cocktail bars, food trucks, and bakeries– guests can savor everything from empanadas and arepas to street tacos and café con leche, all while supporting the vibrant community that makes Houston’s food scene unlike any other in the country.
“Latin Restaurant Weeks brings new energy into our dining room every year,” said Chef Pedro Angel Garcia, owner of El Meson. “It’s not just about the food– it’s about being seen, valued, and celebrated. Being part of this movement reminds us that what we do matters, that our heritage has a place at the table. It’s a beautiful thing to see the community show up for Latin culture with such heart.”
“Our mission is to make Latin and Hispanic culinary businesses visible, viable, and celebrated,” said Karinn Chavarria-Luckett, co-founder of Latin Restaurant Weeks. “In a city like Houston, where Latin culture is woven into the fabric of everyday life, it’s powerful to see these chefs, restaurateurs, and entrepreneurs get the spotlight they deserve. We’re not just showcasing food– we’re uplifting legacies, stories, and dreams.”
Throughout the two-week campaign, diners are encouraged to show their support by dining in, ordering takeout, and sharing their experiences using #LatinRestaurantWeeks on social media. Details about participating locations and their menus can be found online at www.latinrestaurantweeks.com.
