Live event program information and updates to video tribute celebrity lineup
Now just days away, Houston area high school seniors will soon celebrate their achievements at a series of special outdoor events created by their respective school districts at the urging of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.
Five participating districts: Aldine, Alief, HISD, Spring Branch and Spring have announced locations and plans for their individual celebrations Friday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m.
A highlight of each live event will include a star-studded video tribute featuring encouraging personal messages from national and local celebrities including Houston Rockets James Harden, Rappers Trae tha Truth and 50 Cent, Actress Chandra Wilson, Houston Texan JJ Watt, and many more.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner got the ball rolling on this one-of-a-kind event to honor and recognize area high school seniors who have missed many traditional memories this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“With the support of district superintendents, their teams, and some pretty big-named celebrities, I know this will be a memorable event that the senior class of 2020 can experience together, and thanks to our media partners, the entire Houston community can share virtually as well.” Mayor Turner said.
All seniors attending live events will be required to wear face coverings and adhere to social distancing guidelines as outlined by their respective school districts. Parents, family members, friends and the general public are invited to participate virtually through local media outlets.
Houston First Corporation is excited to partner with the City of Houston, local media outlets and participating school districts to provide the Class of 2020 with this unique graduation experience.
