Houston First Joins UH to Host Sweet 16 Watch Party at Avenida Houston on Thursday, March 26, 2026

Houston First Corporation (HFC) along with the University of Houston are co-hosting the free party for Houstonians at The Plaza at Avenida Houston. (Located between the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB) and Discovery Green Park)

Event is Thursday, March 26, 2026 with Tip-Off at 9:05 P.M. The Plaza at Avenida opens to the public at 7:30 P.M. Updates are available here.

Fans are encouraged to come out and cheer on the top seed University of Houston Cougars as they advance to Sweet 16 in the NCAA Division | Men’s Basketball Tournament. UH will face off with Illinois here in Houston.

While the game will be played at nearby Toyota Center, fans without tickets can still experience a range of fun activities and watch the game with fellow Cougar supporters at the Watch Party.  

Fans won’t miss a play as they watch the game on a massive 20-foot LED screen, and multiple 80-inch monitors will be placed throughout the Plaza. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and restaurants along Avenida will be open for dining.

A DJ will keep the energy flowing with music throughout the evening, and fans can take pictures at selfie stations and compete in games and challenges for a chance at winning free prizes. The UH Team shop will be set up for those wanting to purchase the latest Cougar gear.

Parking and Transportation:

Guests coming to performances can find garage parking in the Avenida North and Avenida South parking garages, located at each end of the George R. Brown Convention Center More information on rates and transportation can be found here.
