SEVEN SUSHI & ROBATA Debuts From Team Behind Duck N Bao and Hongdae 33

Grace and Leo Xia, the husband-and-wife duo behind local favorites Duck N Bao and Hongdae 33, have officially debuted their third concept, Seven Sushi & Robata.

Located in Dun Huang Plaza at 9889 Bellaire Blvd, Ste. E209 (formerly Fu Fu Restaurant), Seven is around the corner from the couple’s popular AYCE Korean barbecue spot, Hongdae 33.

The spacious, newly renovated restaurant offers full-service lunch, dinner and late-night dining, featuring a robust menu of made-to-order, all-you-can-eat sushi and robata items.

“Chinatown on Bellaire is one of the most exciting dining destinations, and because we already have another restaurant in the plaza, it’s easy to manage both,” says Grace. “There aren’t many all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants in the area, and with so many offices nearby, we wanted to offer something fresh and approachable for lunch or dinner. And if Hongdae has an overflow crowd, we can suggest guests visit Seven for robata so they can still get their barbecue fix.”

The Xias pride themselves on sourcing high-quality ingredients and fresh fish, including whole bluefin tuna, and crafting sauces in house.

Sushi selections feature nigiri, classic and house maki and handrolls. On the robata side, diners can enjoy traditional skewers such as teriyaki chicken thigh, chicken gizzards and hearts alongside flame-grilled favorites like miso beef, pork belly, chicken wings and fresh vegetables, all cooked over an authentic Japanese robata.

Premium add-ons, priced per piece, are available for tables that opt for the top tier option including toro, sweet shrimp, salmon roe, hamachi kama and miso chilean sea bass.

A crudo section includes prepared cold dishes, such as yuzu-marinated salmon, scallop with seared crab & fish egg, toro tataki and octopus crudo. On the hot side, small plates include agedashi tofu, tempura shrimp, takoyaki, chicken karaage and hamachi collar. Mochi ice cream rounds out the meal.

The full bar offers beer, wine and sake, as well as classic and signature cocktails and crafted shots developed by Grace, who oversees the beverage programs across all of the couple’s restaurants.

Inspired by the late-night popularity of Hongdae 33, Seven offers an AYCE format that caters to both daytime diners and the after-hours crowd. Guests can choose from two price levels:

  • $37 — Unlimited ordering of core menu items over a two-hour time limit.
  • $57 — Core menu items plus premium items such as bluefin tuna, scallop and salmon belly from the sushi side, and LA galbi (Korean short rib), Hawaiian ribeye and Cajun or garlic-butter shrimp from the grill. Premium add-on items are also available per piece.

Seven Sushi & Robata is open daily for full-service, all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner, from 11:30 a.m. to midnight, with seatings until 11 p.m. Dining is limited to two hours. Walk-ins only; no reservations accepted. Self-parking is available in the parking lot and second-floor garage.
