Kenny & Ziggy’s Hosts 10th Annual Deli Month Holocaust Survivors Luncheon

Their numbers grow smaller every year, but the stories they lived and lessons they teach only grow more and more important.

These are the people who nearly 85 years ago lived childhoods learning untold horrors in camps, hiding with sympathetic families while being separated from their own and as refugees across Europe.

Every year since founding National Deli Month a decade ago, Kenny & Ziggy’s New York Delicatessen Restaurant & Bakery has set aside one day in August to celebrate these survivors at a special private luncheon.

The luncheon is a part of  the 10th annual National Deli Month, a celebration of the great American Jewish delicatessens that span North America.

This year more than three dozen delicatessens representing ten states and Canada are participating. The coordinated celebration was begun in 2016 by Ziggy Gruber.

Each participating deli spotlights signature dishes or creates a special menu for the month.

A portion of sales from those goes to a charity of their choice in their community. Kenny & Ziggy’s has created a three-course prix-fixe menu from which a portion of sales goes again to Holocaust Museum Houston.
