Houston Restaurants Turn Up the Heat for Cinco De Mayo

Hugo’s, Caracol, Xochi and URBE: Houstonians are invited to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at any – or all! – of the H Town Restaurant Group sister restaurants from Friday, May 2 to Monday, May 5. Happy hour will be extended to Saturday, May 3 at all locations, there will be additional food & drink specials throughout the weekend and on May 5, as well as live music. All four locations will have the following drink specials available on these dates including The Greatest Margarita Ever Sold ~ $18 and House margaritas available at all restaurants for just $10. Alora Restaurant & Bar: From Friday, May 2 through Sunday, May 4, the bar will be featuring a Cinco de Mayo Fire and Pine for $15. Celebrating the famed Mexican battle that set back France’s 19th century aims of conquering Mexico, Fire and Pine is a bold and tropical margarita with smoky and spicy notes. This cocktail brings together sweet, smoky, and spicy – perfect for a Cinco de Mayo celebration. It is made from Reposado Tequila, Mezcal, pineapple juice, agave syrup, lime juice and a heat-inducing Thai chili. The glass comes with a Tajin rim.

B&B Butchers: Get your Cinco de Mayo on at Berg Hospitality Group’s flagship restaurant, B&B Butchers, on Monday, May 5. For the festive holiday, the restaurant will serve Tex-Mex specials like Chicken Enchiladas de Mole ($32) with shredded chicken, mole, rice, queso fresco, and crema, Chilaquiles ($17) with a corn fried tortilla, tomato, onion, garlic, and epazote salsa, and Churros ($12) with caramel filling and butterscotch rum sauce. The restaurant will also feature four specialty cocktails including a Strawberry Margarita ($14), Strawberry Rose Ranch Water ($14), Espolón Paloma ($15), and B&B Margarita ($15). Duck N Bao: Drinks on Discount at Duck N Bao–Should your tastebuds crave Chinese fare over the holiday, don’t miss a stop at Houston’s best destination for modern bites. Pair with half-priced Azalea Margaritas and Sour Apple Tequila cocktails for a flavorful blast all day long. 

Hongdae 33: Half-Priced Margaritas at Hongdae 33–It’s hard not to feel festive with a delicious drink in hand and Korean barbecue on your plate. Skip the crowds at Tex-Mex meccas and experience both on Cinco de Mayo with half-priced Strawberry & Mango Margaritas ($7.50) all day on May 5.

Los Tios: Houston favorite Tex-Mex spot, Los Tios, is raising a glass to Cinco de Mayo with an all-day margarita special, featuring its famous $6 house margaritas and $5.95 lunchie gold margaritas. Those looking to go all out with a larger celebration can flock to the restaurant’s flagship San Felipe location and their Buffalo Speedway location for a Cinco de Mayo Parking Lot Party! In addition to the all-day margarita special, the Parking Lot Party festivities will showcase a DJ, a live donkey for the perfect picture opportunity, and food and games. 

 Lyric Market: From Saturday, May 3rd through Monday, May 5th, guests are invited to celebrate at Lyric Bar, where the margaritas are strong, the micheladas are bold, and the vibes are just right. Mexican Sugar: From May 1 through May 5, Mexican Sugar is throwing a five-day party to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Every day is a new reason to stop by. Wednesday, May 1: Custom cocktail toppers via the Ripple Machine—print your selfie on your sip. Starts at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2: Tableside Margarita Carts are back—choose your tequila, garnishes, and rim. Starts at 4 p.m.  Friday, May 3: Nitrogen Margaritas in Strawberry, Mango, or Original—served ice cold and over the top. Starts at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4: Paleta Carts — frozen pops served solo or spiked. Noon–8 p.m. Sunday, May 5: Compadres – Don Julio 1942 margarita + shot pairing and live mariachi in the afternoon. All day. All events are dine-in only, and each one brings a fresh twist to the fiesta. 

Molina’s Cantina: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo all weekend with specials, fun and good eating. Friday, May 2, through Monday, May 5, enjoy Premium Margaritas for $8 all day. On Monday, May 5, mariachis will serenade guests at all locations from 6 to 8 p.m., and happy hour will run all day, including the legendary Molina’s Margaritas for $9.50 and Mexican beers for $4.50. Pier 6: Cinco de Derby at Pier 6! Why choose one theme when you can have two? This year the popular coastal kitchen is hosting a combined event to celebrate Kentucky Derby Day and Cinco de Mayo along with sponsors Woodford, Old Forester and Contreau. Drink specials include $8 Old Forester Mint Julep, Woodford Spire, Spicy Ritas and House Margaritas. Additional highlights include a DJ, decor, 360 photo booth, in-house giveaways and plenty of TVs to watch the race. 

Real Agave: The concept will be offering all day happy hour on Monday, May 5 and offers the perfect spot to enjoy a midday escape or unwind after work. Sip the El Bendito, featuring Tres Generaciones Plata Tequila, Fever Tree ginger beer, pineapple, jalapeño, and lime juice for $14. Pair your drink with the Tuna Tartare on a blue corn tostada with radish, cilantro, lime, red onion, and salsa macha for $18, or the Quesadilla filled with Oaxaca cheese, pico de gallo, lime, cilantro aioli, radish, and guacamole for $10. 

Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen: Come to either Sylvia’s location and enjoy any (or all) of four kinds of specially priced Margaritas. Each is just $12. To celebrate National Enchilada Day, will be serving up special Puebla Enchiladas with a choice of chicken or pork and her popular Refugio Enchiladas, cheese enchiladas with Sylvia’s famed chili gravy. Since Puebla, where the battle was fought, has long credited for being the birthplace of mole, Sylvia’ Puebla Enchiladas come with a generous topping of her own signature mole sauce. The special enchiladas will be sold ala carte (without sides) for just $5 each all day long.

Toca Madera is turning up the heat with fire dancers, Baile Folklorico, and Mariachi echoing throughout the dining room. From Friday, May 2 through Monday, May 5, the high-energy Mexican steakhouse is dialing it up with immersive entertainment that turns dinner into a show.
