The Mission of Yahweh to Host 2nd Annual Leaders & Legends Gala “Building Hope for a Future”

Friends and supporters gathered at Tony’s restaurant as the host committee members planned the 2nd Annual Leaders & Legends Gala “Building Hope for a Future” to be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at the River Oaks Country Club. The event benefits the Mission of Yahweh, a faith-based shelter that empowers, enriches, and restores the lives of homeless women and children.

The 2024 gala will recognize community leaders who made generous gifts to build and furnish the Mission’s new campus dormitory: Brigitte and Bashar Kalai, Lori and Todd King, Larry Martin, Janelle and Greg Reid, and Laura and Dave Ward.

The new dormitory will make an immediate impact in the Houston community, provide a loving and safe environment, and build hope in the lives of many more homeless women and children. It is a permanent supportive-housing project that will house more than 40 women and children at its Spring Branch area campus in Houston.

In partnership with and through in-kind donations and pro-bono services from HomeAid Houston, David Weekley Homes, Greater Houston Builders Association, Rivers Barden Architects, and Unicorn Service Solutions, each of the 2700 square foot buildings will include 8 rooms for a total of 16 that will encompass a living space, bedroom, and a private bathroom.

The Mission’s 12-building campus currently has the capacity to house 120 homeless women and children. The new addition will increase capacity by 40-50 residents served.
