Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston receives check for $110,000 from Texas Petroleum Group (TPG) and Shell USA

Funds were generated from The Giving Pump, a Force for Good initiative

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston (BGCGH) was the recipient of a $110,000 check from Texas Petroleum Group (TPG) and Shell USA (Shell) with funds generated by The Giving Pump program, part of the Force For Good initiative. A portion of the purchases made by consumers who used the designated pump this fall at 28 Shell stations across the Houston region helped generate funds for BGCGH.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston is one of Houston’s finest non-profits and we are proud to support their efforts to help children in our city and beyond,” said Kemp. “Texas Petroleum Group is consistently seeking ways to give back to the community and The Giving Pump is one avenue to empower our customers to give to a great cause. We are honored to support the organization’s inspiring efforts during the 2022 Shell Giving Pump campaign.”

As the region’s leading youth development organization, BGCGH now celebrating its 70th anniversary, has achieved an enviable record of creatively engaging, educating and empowering low-income youth in ways that improve their chances of achieving and sustaining academic and economic success.

“We are incredibly grateful to TPG and Shell for their generosity in supporting Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston,” says Smith. “It’s an investment in our future. Our Clubs offer effective, proven programs focused on the core pillars of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship and Workforce Readiness, all designed to empower kids and teens within a safe, welcoming space and to help them achieve in life.”

More than 35,000 youth ages six to 17 walk through the doors of BGCGH Clubs each year for after-school and summer programs. These children and teens are provided nutritious meals, strong role models, homework/tutoring assistance, organized athletics, character development, access to the arts and field trips. The cost for the school-year program is only $10 per child; however, scholarships are available for families who need help covering this cost.
