COMICPALOOZA Lineup Shines with Supes, Magicians, and Esteemed TV Host at George R. Brown Convention Center in July

  

Texas’ Largest Pop-Culture Convention Welcomes Big Screen Talent to the Big Stage on July 15-17

Comicpalooza unveils sensational guest announcements as comedic cop, evil superhero, vigilante, and enchanting magicians join this year’s blockbuster line-up. Multi-talented Terry Crews will make his Houston debut at the pop culture festival along with acclaimed actors from hit-series The BoysAntony Starr and Karen Fukuhara.

Rounding out the cast of The Magicians at Comicpalooza is Trevor Einhorn and Stella Maeve, who will be joining their cast members Hale Appleman, Summer Bishil and Olivia Taylor Dudley. This red-carpet rollout continues to excite and entice fans leading up to the July 15-17 show at the George R. Brown Convention Center!

Terry Crews is best known for charming viewers across the nation as the host of America’s Got Talent and playing the gentle-giant Lieutenant Terry Jeffords in NBC’s award-winning series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. His appearance in the comedy series, in addition to his credits in Everybody Hates Chris and Are We There Yet?, allowedCrews to achieve a rare feat as his back-to-back appearances in the three consecutive TV series surpassed the coveted 100-episode mark. Crews is also widely recognized as the face, and muscles, of the iconic Old Spice commercials. Crews’ robust career in the entertainment industry includes roles in White Chicks, The Expendables, Deadpool 2, The Benchwarmers and Sorry to Bother You.

Also making his first Comicpalooza appearance, Antony Starr who is most recognized for his role as leader of the ‘Seven’ and evil superhero, Homelander, in the Amazon Original, The Boys and its spin-off series, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, which earned him two Critics Choice Super Awards. Starr can also be seen playing the lead role of Lucas Hood in the action-filled TV series, Banshee. Additionally, his impressive acting resume includes film and TV credits in Outrageous Fortune, American Gothic, Mercy Peak, and his award-winning role as Jeremy King in Wish You Were Here.

Joining alongside Starr is The Boys costar Karen Fukuhara, who plays Kimiko Miyashiro in the popular Amazon Original series. Trained in karate and sword fighting, the Japanese-American actress made her film debut as the sword wielding superhero, Katana, in Suicide Squad. Since then, Fukuhara has starred in numerous films and shows including Stray, Bullet Train and Craig of the Creek, to name a few.

Casting more spells on Comicpalooza’s magical lineup is Trevor Einhorn and Stella Maeve of popular Syfy television series, The Magicians. Working in the entertainment industry since the age of five, Einhorn’s career was propelled by his breakout role playing the recurring character of Frederick Crane on the sitcom Fraiser. Aside from his role as Josh Hoberman in The Magicians, some of Einhorn’s other notable work includes a thirteen-episode arc on Mad Men, playing Neil Kellerman in the ABC remake of Dirty DancingThe Last Tycoon, among many others. Maeve, who portrays Julia Wicker in The Magicians, has over 40 television and film credits including Scarlet, The Runaways, Brooklyn’s Finest, Take the 10, and Mayans M.C.

Kicking off Comicpalooza weekend, the inaugural Launch Night will welcome fans in style. Taking over the George Bush Ballroom, fans will step into the CP Friday Night Bash through a futuristic vortex that will guide spectators to a neon oasis adorned with themed nostalgic décor, a retro arcade, and other enchanting surprises.

LED screens will illuminate the dance floor while a video DJ will amp the crowd with tunes beloved and known by many. Meanwhile, spectators will cheer on for their favorite wrestlers from Texas All-Star Wrestling in eight intense matches while Retro World Series will host a series of energetic Mario Kart 64 tournaments on Nintendo 64 consoles and fans of role-playing games will join Houston Ultimate Werewolf in their intense social deduction game.

Rolling right into Saturday and Sunday, fans will have plenty to do with diverse panels and workshops covering an array of fandoms and topics; unique local and national exhibitors sharing their diverse collection of handmade goods, art and collectibles; and must-see special attractions throughout the show floor.
