Hello, Dolly! Kicks Off 2020 for Broadway at the Hobby Center
Hello Dolly! to run through January 7-12, 2020
Hello Dolly!, winner of four Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, arrives at the Hobby Center as part of the Broadway at the Hobby Center’s 2019-2020 season.
This universally acclaimed hit, which NPR called the “best show of the year,” is the 1964 musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and based on Thorton Wilder’s 1938 farce, The Merchant of Yonkers. In 1955, it was retitled, The Matchmaker.
Director, Jerry Zaks, has created a “gorgeous” new production (Vogue).
After breaking box office records week after week and receiving unanimous raves on Broadway, this Hello Dolly! is now touring America, paying tribute to the original work of legendary director/choreographer Gower Champion – hailed both then and now as one of the greatest stagings in musical theater history.
