Don’t miss out on Full Moon Fridays, On Deck!, Scream on the Green, Art @ Discovery Green and The Shape of Things: Michael Craig-Martin at Discovery Green

FULL MOON FRIDAYS

On Oct. 11, Discovery Green launches Full Moon Fridays, a new monthly concert series showcasing some of the best music of the Gulf Coast.

The opening night features performances from Ian Moore, Ana Popović and The Skatalites.

ON DECK!

The On Deck! lunchtime concert series returns to the park’s Hess Deck on Wednesdays this October.

The series features 60-minute performances showcasing Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts student instrumentalists in jazz, winds, percussion, musical theatre, strings and mariachi.

SCREAM ON THE GREEN

Discovery Green hosts Scream on the Green®, its signature annual citywide costume contest and Halloween celebration, on Friday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 10 p.m. The free event features a costume contest (with categories for all ages, as well as best family costume and best dog costume), a film screening, sing-along Scary-oke and DJ Mohawk Steve. The Lake House will serve spooky soft serve, orange colored vanilla ice cream in a cone, for $1.50.

ART @ DISCOVERY GREEN

The park also hosts the fourth annual Art @ Discovery Green festival on Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 27, with a preview event on Friday, Oct. 25. The outdoor fine art and contemporary craft market takes place on the Grace Event Lawn and along the adjacent Avenida Houston, and will feature vendors selling jewelry, furniture, paintings and sculptures.

Other October programming highlights at Discovery Green include The Shape of Things: Michael Craig-Martin at Discovery Green, six larger-than life playful sculptures (daily through Nov. 3).

Bank of America Screen on the Green featuring How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World on Oct. 19 and The House with a Clock in its Walls on Oct. 25.

Unplugged at Discovery Green featuring Los Guerreros de la Musica on Oct. 20.

Flea by Night, a green flea market featuring one-of-a-kind vintage, handmade, recycled, repurposed and local goods, on Oct. 19.
