Unplugged at Discovery Green to Deliver Acoustic Concerts at the Park This Fall

On select Sundays this fall, Unplugged at Discovery Green hosts the best musical acts in town for acoustic concerts on the park’s Transier Bandstand

This popular series challenges bands to rethink and rearrange their songs using only acoustic instruments, resulting in unique and intimate performances.

Each Unplugged concert features a selection of local and regional bands representing a mix of genres including rap, metal, Latin, indie, rock and soul.

Highlights of the Fall 2018 season include Christian Kidd of iconic Houston punk band The Hates, Ancient Cat Society and Soul Creatures.

In 2010, Houston promoter and manager Mark C. Austin and SugarHill Recording Studios founder Josh Applebee launched the series, originally called Canned Acoustica; after a years-long hiatus, the concept was revived at Discovery Green last fall.

Over the years, Canned Acoustica concerts have been a way for musicians and audiences alike to give back to the community, and that tradition of giving back continues with Unplugged at Discovery Green.
