TUTS brings DREAMGIRLS, both a Tony and Grammy award winning show, to Hobby Center
It’s a showcase of classic R&B acts in Theatre Under the Stars’ presentation of DREAMGIRLS which features the music when Motown reigned the airwaves.
Based on the book by Tom Eyen with music by Henry Krieger, DREAMGIRLS, is the story of triumphs and tribulations that come with fame and fortune. This musical was the winner of 7 Tony Awards and two Grammys for Best Cast Album and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.

DREAMGIRLS follows The Dreams as they journey from their first break to their boisterous climb to the top of the charts. Struggles with unscrupulous managers and cutthroat business deals are interspersed with the changing 1960’s and 70’s musical and cultural climate.
Packed with powerhouse ballads and soulful tunes, DREAMGIRLS is based on the aspirations and successes of historical R&B acts ranging from The Supremes, Jackie Wilson, James Brown, The Shirelles and many others.
In 2006, DREAMGIRLS was adapted into a movie starring Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé, Eddie Murphy, Jennifer Hudson, Danny Glover, Anika Noni Rose, and Keith Robinson.
