Southern Fried Chicken Festival comes to Levy Park Conservancy on Saturday, August 12

All ages invited to join in festivities celebrating fried chicken

All ages are invited to join in the fun at Levy Park  Conservancy at this unique culinary event, scheduled from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m., that’s all about southern fried chicken to be held at 3801 Eastside Street in the Upper Kirby District. Proceeds from the festival will benefit Kiel Colon Cancer, a nonprofit organization founded to raise awareness and donate funds toward fighting colon cancer.

Talented Houston-area chefs and culinary artists will convene at the Southern Fried Chicken Festival to showcase their creative and flavorful fried chicken master pieces.

Guests are invited to vote on their favorite version of fried chicken, as well as participate in a chicken wing eating contest and a watermelon seed spitting competition.

Live musical entertainment will be provided by the dynamic bands Blaze and Black (soul and hiphop), Sambabom Houston and alternative rock band, Ganesha.

“We are excited to host the Southern Fried Chicken Festival at Levy Park since it is an event that has broad appeal to people of all ages and interests,” says Lindsey Carey, Program Coordinator with Levy Park Conservancy. “Who doesn’t love fried chicken? The public gets to weigh in on their favorites, and there are many fun activities going on throughout the park, including live music on our pavilion stage.”

A $10 general admission ticket to the Southern Fried Chicken Festival includes:

  • All live performances on the SFCF stage
  • Food available for purchase from chefs, food trucks & restaurants and all bars and concessions throughout the park
  • Official festival merchandise, art and hot sauce available for purchase
  • Sponsor areas with giveaways throughout the park
  • Children’s area with games (ages eight and under allowed in free to festival with a ticketed adult)

Advance ticket purchase online is recommended. Premium tickets packages are available, including the VIP Judges Pass and the Whole Sha-Bang Judges pass. These included many special amenities, including VIP seating and parking, drink tickets and access to SFCF sampling bar and lounge area.
