“BET ON HER: CASINO ROYALE” Fundraiser to Provide Scholarships and Support Domestic Violence Survivors on October 8, 2026

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the You Have a Purpose Foundation’s inaugural fundraiser set to bring community together

For 13 women rebuilding their lives after domestic violence, a new career could open the door to a brighter future. This October, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, You Have a Purpose Foundation will help make that future possible through its inaugural “Bet on Her: Casino Royale” fundraiser by providing career-training scholarships for survivors served by the Houston Area Women’s Center. 

The elegant Casino Royale-inspired evening will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, bringing together community leaders, businesses, supporters, and advocates for a night dedicated to empowering women and creating opportunities for survivors of domestic violence.

Founded by Houston media personality and philanthropist Cindy Burbano, You Have a Purpose Foundation helps women, children, and families rebuild their lives through education, resources, crisis support, and opportunities that lead to long-term independence. 

“This evening is about so much more than having a beautiful event,” said Cindy Burbano, President and Founder of You Have a Purpose Foundation. “It is about reminding women that their circumstances do not define their future. When we provide education, career opportunities, connection, and resources, we are giving someone the ability to completely change the direction of her life. We want every survivor to know that she has a purpose and that there is an entire community standing behind her.”

Through Bet on Her, You Have a Purpose Foundation will provide 10 trade-school scholarships sponsored by Texas Technical Trade School, a TWC workforce intermediary that provides hands-on training in the skilled trades, helping individuals earn industry-recognized credentials and connect to employment opportunities in high-demand careers.

Five scholarships will be for HVAC training and five for electrical training. The Foundation will also provide three scholarships for women to attend Behind the Chair Institute, a beauty school dedicated to nurturing the next generation of hairstylists and beauty professionals, for career training in the beauty industry.

All 13 scholarships will benefit women survivors from the Houston Area Women’s Center, allowing recipients to pursue career training and build financial stability and independence. 

In addition, a portion of the proceeds from Bet on Her: Casino Royale will benefit the Houston Area Women’s Center, helping support its work serving survivors of domestic and sexual violence throughout the Houston community.

Guests at Bet on Her: Casino Royale, presented by Domingo Garcia Law Office and Mega 101 FM, can expect an elegant evening featuring casino-style entertainment, food sponsored by El Muelle Seafood, networking, special experiences, and a silent auction with exclusive packages, memorabilia, entertainment experiences, and donations from businesses and organizations throughout the Houston community, including Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Houston Dynamo, Domus Caviar, and Fine Foods, and many more.
