POST Houston Hosts Hispanic Heritage Month-Long Celebration

Celebrations showcases concerts, festivals, film nights, and Latin-inspired dining

POST Houston officially began their Hispanic Heritage Month kickoff festivities on Thursday, September 17, and the party doesn’t stop until October.

Presented in partnership with Telemundo Houston, the month-long celebration features live concerts, Latin-inspired food and drink offerings, community festivals, outdoor film screenings, and cultural showcases within POST’s versatile spaces, including the panoramic Skylawn rooftop, starting September 17 through October 18.

The multi-week festivities spotlight the rich diversity and artistic vitality of Hispanic and Latin American communities across Greater Houston and beyond.

“POST Houston is a multicultural gathering place for the Houstonians and visitors from around the globe, and Hispanic Heritage Month offers a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the cultures, traditions, and creative voices that shape our city,” said Meredith Powell, general manager of POST Houston. “From live music and festivals to film nights and food experiences, these celebrations reflect the energy and diversity of our community.”

The energy picks up on Friday, September 18, as Mariachi Loco de Juan Medina performs live at El Tiempo Cantina’s POST location starting at 7 p.m., pairing traditional mariachi classics with festive food and drink offerings. On Saturday, September 19, the Latin Soul Band takes over the lawn at 8 p.m. for an outdoor evening performance with the downtown Houston skyline as the backdrop.

The weekend celebration continues Sunday, September 20, starting at 1 p.m. with the inaugural HPMA Festival de la Herencia Hispana, presented in collaboration with the Houston Professional Musicians’ Association, featuring live musical showcases, cultural performances, and family-friendly activities.  The Houston Dynamo will also be featured this day with interactive experiences on the main lawn.

As the series moves into late September and early October, rooftop entertainment takes center stage on Skylawn. On Friday, September 25, at 8 p.m., The CTS Band honors the Queen of Tejano with a night of timeless hits in the rooftop pavilion. The following week, on Friday, October 2, at 8 p.m., POST hosts Movie Night on the Lawn with an outdoor screening of the beloved 1997 biopic “Selena,” which catapulted actress Jennifer Lopez to international fame and introduced Selena to worldwide audiences. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the film outdoors.

The celebration continues with a full lineup of cultural gatherings and live concerts throughout October. On Saturday, October 3 at 12 p.m., the Poder Hispano Festival highlights local creators, small businesses, performers, and community leaders for a day-long showcase of Hispanic culture and empowerment. Latin rock takes over the rooftop on Friday, October 9, at 8 p.m. with a live tribute concert spanning the musical career of Soda Stereo, one of Argentina’s best-selling rock groups. At the same time on the lawn, families can gather for an outdoor screening of Disney/Pixar’s “Coco.”

Attendees are invited to arrive early to explore POST Market, the venue’s expansive food hall featuring dozens of international dining concepts, including Hispanic and Latin-inspired options that complement the month-long celebration.

Among them, Andes Cafe showcases South American flavors inspired by the Andes region, with dishes such as ceviche, lomo saltado, and other regional favorites, while El Tiempo Cantina offers its iconic Tex-Mex experience in POST’s East Wing, along with the classics Houstonians have been craving for decades.
