The Energy Corridor of Houston Orchestra Announces 10th Anniversary Season

ECHO celebrates a decade of making music in Houston with 2023-24 season

The Energy Corridor of Houston Orchestra (ECHO) announced their 10th Anniversary Season with programming that celebrates the growth of the organization from a group of friends who wanted to make music together to one of Houston’s most dynamic music organization’s providing concerts, community and fostering a love of music among children and adults.

“Just a decade ago we began this great endeavor to create a community orchestra in the Energy Corridor and now ECHO will celebrate its 10th Anniversary this fall,” said returning Executive Director Sarah McDonnor. “It is my goal to expand our reach and build upon our strengths. We couldn’t be more proud of how far we have come as a non-profit arts organization. Since our founding in 2014, we have continued to grow financially and artistically and we couldn’t have done it without community support.”

ECHO kicks off its 10th Season on August 27th with the first of three of its popular community concert series Echoes in the Area at Cafe Benedicte, 15455 Memorial Dr. from 5 to 8 p.m. featuring the ECHO Piano Trio for this fundraiser event Decades of Music, 1920-2000 with selections to include music by Gershwin, Irving Berlin, The Beatles, Popular musicals, and more! Tickets are available at www.echorchestra.org/tickets and are $90 per person and include a 3 course meal with wine or beer. Additional ECHOES in the Area events will take place on December 3rd and March 24th.

“We are so excited to be celebrating our 10th Season with our incredible audience,” said Michael Fahey, ECHO Conductor. “This year it is our great pleasure to feature music and musicians from near and far as we continue to provide musical experiences that will delight our audiences.”

ECHO’s Annual fall concert takes place on Friday, October 20 at 8 p.m. and is entitled “Music of Faith” featuring selections from Jewish, Muslim, and Christian Traditions and guest artist, internationally known Klezmer Violinist, Steven Greenman, who will perform several short movements from his own composition Klezmer Suite for Violin and Orchestra. Greenman will also perform the Cadenza from Fiddler
on the Roof written by the peerless film composer, John Williams.

The concert will conclude with the final movement from Felix Mendelssohn’s Sumphony No. 5, Reformation which is based on the famous Christian hymn A Mighty Fortress is our God. This concert will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail. Tickets are available at www.echorchestra.org/tickets and are $25, students with ID are $10 and children 12 and under are free.

ECHO will also be appearing at the 3rd Annual Energy Corridor Holiday Lighting on Thursday, November 30th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Houston West, 13210 Katy Freeway at this annual free evening of festive décor and holiday spirit where ECHO will perform festive holiday music alongside local pianist, Thomas Cokinos and the Westside High School Choir.

ECHO’s once again gets the jump on ringing in the New Year with its popular New Year’s Eve Eve event! This year revelers are invited to Dance the Night Away on December 30, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. at the Queensbury Theater, 12777 Queensbury Lane, with classic dance music and guest artist Mercy Saez, local Flamenco Dancer with Undebel Flamenco, in a festive evening that also includes an appetizer reception and celebratory glass of champagne.

ECHO’s first event of 2024 will be its annual Young Artist Concerto Competition. Accomplished Middle School and High School students, ages 12-18 years old, are invited to Lanier Middle School, 2600 Woodhead St., Sunday, February 18 from 1 to 4 pm to compete for the opportunity to audition to play their concerto with ECHO on the final concert of the season at St. John Vianny on May 16 at 7:30 p.m. to celebrate music education in the community with a program featuring the winner of our Young Artist Competition and a performance of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf.
