5th Annual George Springer All-Star Bowling Benefit for Camp on Thursday, June 27, 2019
5th Annual George Springer All-Star Bowling Benefit for the Summer Camp for Young People Who Stutter to be held at Bowlmor Houston from 7 to 10 p.m.
Hosted by George Springer, a Houston Astros Outfielder and 2017 World Series Champion and MVP, the Bowling Benefit is a fundraiser to send young people who stutter to Camp SAY, as well as to George’s MVP Camp SAY in Houston.
The Stuttering Association for the Young (SAY) invites guests to attend the benefit alongside Springer, fellow Astros, other professional athletes and celebrity lane captains as well as Honorary Chair Dr. Carolyn Farb., h.c., co-chairs Lara Bell and Melissa DeAyala with junior chair, Matthew DeAyala.
The Bowling Benefit will begin with a cocktail reception, followed by bowling fun with fellow Astros and celebrity lane captains, with an open bar and dinner.
The event will also feature sports-themed items, experiences, and memorabilia in a silent auction. All event and auction proceeds will send children and teens in need to both the National Camp SAY program, and George Springer’s MVP Camp SAY day camp in Houston.
ABOUT THE BENEFIT
The annual benefit supports the George Springer Kids Fund. All of the proceeds from the George Springer All-Star Bowling Benefit will help send children from all socio-economic backgrounds to the George Springer MVP Camp Say day camp in Houston and Camp SAY, a life-changing summer camp for kids and teens who stutter.
The event is made possible, in part, by the generous support of event sponsors, including exclusive radio and outdoor media sponsors: SportsTalk 790AM, iHeartMedia Houston, and Clear Channel Outdoor.
In 2014, Springer became SAY’s national spokesperson and since then has inspired millions of people who stutter. Last year alone, SAY provided more than $1 million in financial aid and underwritten tuition support, so all children have access to its life-changing programs, including Camp SAY, a 2-week, ACA-accredited summer camp for kids and teens who stutter, ages 8-18.
ABOUT CAMP SAY
Camp SAY blends a traditional summer camp experience, with programs and activities that empower young people who stutter. The camp also helps campers build confidence, communication skills, and friendships to last a lifetime. Camp SAY is a program of SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that offers comprehensive and innovative programs that address the physical, social and emotional impacts of stuttering.
