Julio Garcia to be Featured Artist for Bayou City Arts Festival Memorial Park

The featured artwork for the 2019 Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park is titled “At Dusk” by Garcia

ABOUT THE ARTIST

This year’s featured artist Julio C. Garcia is a 2D Mixed Media artist from Jacksonville, FL. Garcia’s paintings come from deep within when he was a young boy living in Mexico.

Growing up in touch with nature and a quest to express it, Garcia painted every time he had a chance. His artwork is an invitation to travel and a journey through his experiences.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

  1. Talk about your influences on your paintings: My work represents  the nostalgia during a period in which many amazing artists became known such as  Picasso, Kandinsky, Diego Rivera and Tamayo .
  2. When did you know you wanted to be an artist? I have paintings from my childhood as early as 6 years old and that still in my childhood home. Growing into adulthood as an artist takes time, I spend half of my life acquainting myself with a way to communicate with others trough my art.
  3. What do you want people to take away from your work? My art holds Romanticism, Mystery and a lot of symbolism,  but want to project respect to the human figure.
  4. Future plans? Want to continue creating, and I  look forward to the day that I can have more time to invest in making my three dimensional art as I have already done with paintings.
