Bayou City Art Fest Memorial Park has Art, Food, Creative Zones and More on March 23-25

Over 300 Artists working in 19 different mediums, Non-Profits, Music, Food, Beverages, Creative Zones – and Memorial Park in the spring

As the nation’s premier outdoor fine art event, Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park will provide guests with the opportunity to personally meet artists, view original works, and purchase world class art. The three-day festival will feature music, local food vendors, beverages, entertainment, a Children’s Creative Zone and much more.

Celebrating 47 years since the founding of the Westheimer Art Festival, now known as Bayou City Art Festival, ACA has raised more than $3.5 million for local non-profits and provided a venue for over 20,000 artists to showcase their work to thousands of art lovers from all over the world. Every year, a new jury selects participating artists, some new and some returning, which helps create a fresh and different festival year after year.

MEET FEATURED ARTIST, LISA TELLING KATTENBRAKER:

Lisa Telling Kattenbraker is a contemporary American batik artist from Olympia, WA.

Working with the medium of batik, Kattenbraker creates emotive visual stories, drawing from the traditional process of batiking patterns and combining those patterns with more contemporary images - figures that are usually faceless - allowing the viewer to bring his or her own emotional moment to the experience.  Much of her artwork incorporates her own memories of childhood with the experience of watching her kids grow and learn.

In her work, Kattenbraker strives to ignite a touching response through the different patterns, symbols and colors she uses. Kattenbraker’s art has a long history from idea conception to framing. She believes that the pieces are not finished until the viewer can see and connect with the art, and essentially create their own story or experience.
