The magical touch of Disney’s Mary Poppins comes to the stage at TUTS

Spelling Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious or eating a spoonful of sugar isn’t necessary to enjoy Theatre Under the Stars latest production of Disney’s Mary Poppins.

POP1The musical, magical show based on the novel by P.L. Travers is “practically perfect.” Audiences will have the chance to partake in the cherished story of a very special nanny at Houston’s Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Houston until March 20, 2016.

Don’t miss the classic, entertaining story of Mary Poppins and her sooty sidekick, Bert, as they transform the unhappy world of a banker’s two children into a magical fantasyland. Statues come to life, impressive chimney sweeps and toys that think for themselves have the TUTS production as a musical sure to entertain.  POP2

Special events paired with TUTS Disney’s Mary Poppins show include:

  • OUT@TUTS: Houston’s LGBT social theatre group hosts a cabaret-style evening at Artista, with complimentary bites, happy hour drink specials –mingle with cast members and other musical theatre enthusiasts on Thursday, March 10th.
  • Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday: Start your journey to Cherry Tree Lane on Sunday, March 13th with a visit to Mary Poppins’ Jolly Holiday. This pre-show jubilee includes a photo opportunity with Mary Poppins, high tea and pudding (British evening meal and dessert), and a special gift! This event begins at 6 p.m. and occurs prior to the 7:30 p.m. performance.

Lead roles will be portrayed by veteran actors, Christina Decicco as Mary Poppins who appeared as Evita on Broadway in the 2012 Revival starring Ricky Martin and Danny Gardner as Bert who will be returning to TUTS for a third time.

Also appearing are Drew McVety as Mr. Banks, Courtney Markowitz as Mrs. Banks, Kelly Lomonte as Jane, Seth Graul as Michael, Barbara Marineau as Bird Woman/Mrs. Brill, Marco Camacho as Robertson Ay, Brian Mathis as Chairman/Admiral and Jane Blass as Miss Andrew.
